Lead Instructor
Shawn is a retired Sergeant from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, with an impressive 27 years of dedicated service and excelled as a Team Leader on an Executive Protection team. Shawn supervised the training unit, patrol, and a task force unit while also serving as the lead firearms instructor for the agency. Specializing in Close Quarters Battle (CQB), Firearms/ Tactics, Active Shooter, and Driving, Shawn’s experience is unparalleled. With 20 years of experience on the SWAT team, he ascended through the ranks to Assistant Team Leader, Team Leader, and Tactical Commander. His unwavering passion for service shines through in his approach to training, as he effectively communicates and demonstrates concepts to ensure every student comprehends and can execute with precision.
Chad Saunders
Lead Instructor
Chad is a disciplined Physical Security Specialist with over 16 years of distinguished experience in law enforcement and 10 years of advanced leadership in specialized security operations on the CERT team. His career spans both private and public sectors, where he has become recognized as a detail-oriented, technically astute expert in designing and applying best-in-class physical security systems. He has dedicated his career to keeping people and institutions safe, preventing security breaches, and fostering a culture of preparedness through thorough and professional communication. As one of the Lead Instructors at the Clay County Sheriff’s Office since 2015, he leads instruction for high-liability subjects and ensures officers are prepared for critical incidents. Chad’s extensive background and commitment to excellence in training, operations, and security have positioned him as a trusted leader in the field of law enforcement and physical security.
